If I Grew Up

A Short Film by Chaotic Intelligence

Personal Generative AI project.

If I Grew Up is a powerful AI-driven short film that highlights the tragic loss of Palestinian and Lebanese children’s lives due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the region. Launched one year after the start of Israel’s relentless attacks on October 7, the film imagines a heartbreaking scenario: children envisioning the futures they never got to live.

The title, If I Grew Up, represents the sudden and cruel end to these young lives, showing the dreams and careers—like doctors, lawyers, and firefighters—that they will never achieve. In the film, we use AI to bring these lost futures to life, portraying each child in professional attire to symbolize the potential and hope that were taken away.

This project came to life when my friend Yogesh Bhusare and I decided to experiment with AI in storytelling. We wanted our work to carry a message that mattered. Even though neither of us comes from the Arab world, living here has made it impossible to ignore the suffering around us. We felt a duty to use our skills to bring attention to this conflict, one that urgently needs a resolution. The violence, especially against children, must end, and peace must be the goal.

If I Grew Up combines the power of technology with the need for human empathy. It’s just the start of many meaningful stories we plan to tell through Chaotic Intelligence.
